Funding

Judo BC funds one representative from each club that is located outside of the Lower Mainland area to attend the Annual General Meeting.  Each representative MUST complete and return the registration form (by mail, fax or e-mail) to the Judo BC office by May 1st, 2003 in order to be eligible for funding.  All air travel and accommodation must be booked through the Judo BC office in order to be funded.

 

Out-of-town attendees receive the following funding:

Expenses for one club representative (from clubs located outside of the Lower Mainland) to attend the Annual General Meeting will be paid in accordance with the following:

 

(1)     A maximum of one club representative will be funded

(2)     Expenses covered shall be limited to airfare (economy fare), or the cost of automobile transportation to a maximum of the lowest airfare that could have been purchased for that same trip.

If you live too far to drive to the meeting you will be flown to Vancouver.   If a flight departing your community and arriving in time for the AGM is available on Saturday, June 21 this will be booked -- if this is not an option because of flight schedules your flight will be booked for Friday.  All flights will be booked returning Sunday. 

(3)     Hotel accommodation will be booked as double-occupancy, for one night, an exception would be if transportation for arrival on Saturday is unavailable.  If this is the case, accommodation will be funded as double occupancy for two nights.

                     All club representatives will be booked into accommodations on a double occupancy basis.  If you wish to stay single occupancy, or stay with a non-funded member attending the meeting, you will only be funded for one-half of the accommodation rate.

                     A shuttle is available from the airport to the hotel; however, any costs associated with the travel to-and-from airports are not funded.

 

·        As clarification to this policy, the cost of meals and transportation to and from the airport will not be covered.

·        Individuals booking their own travel or accommodation will not be reimbursed.

Registration

·        All AGM registration forms MUST be returned to JUDO BC by May 1st, 2003 if you require transportation or accommodation.

·        Individuals returning forms after May 1st, 2003 may not be funded or may be required to pay the difference between the lowest fares and the fares available at the time of booking.

·        Only club representatives from outside of the Lower Mainland need complete the AGM registration form.

·        Confirmation of travel, tickets, and accommodation information will be sent to all registered club representatives in mid May.

·        Accommodation for those funded will be booked at Executive Inn Hotel and Suites.

·        For those staying at Executive Inn, a shuttle is available to-and-from Vancouver International Airport.  The shuttle departs on a regular basis from the Vancouver Airport.  To contact the Hotel to confirm shuttle information call 1-800-663-2878.

A proxy form is enclosed -Please do not submit them prior to the AGM.   If you require additional proxies, please photocopy the form that you have received.

Judo BC Athlete of the Year Awards

The 2003 Judo BC Athlete of the Year Award presentations will be made after the completion of the business at the Annual General Meeting.

 

Steve Sasaki Memorial Award

The Steve Sasaki Memorial Award will also be made at the end of the Annual General Meeting.  Please plan on staying for the presentations.

 

 

Judo BC Referee Clinic

The 2003 Referee Clinic will commence following a short break after the end of the AGM.

·        The Clinic will be held at the Executive Inn Hotel.

·        The Clinic will run for 1-2 hours.

 

 

Kata Exams

·        The Kata Exams will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2003 beginning at 9:00 am at the Steveston Martial Arts Centre.

 

·        The Grading Board meeting will be held on Friday, June 20, 2003 commencing at 7:00 pm. Candidates name should be submitted to the Chairman two weeks prior to the meeting for verification.  Anyone wishing to be considered for grading must have all required documentation to the Grading Board Chair by Tuesday, June 10, 2003. (Mr. Inouye at 2358 Moore Place, Victoria, BC, V8Z 6R6).
